Each month the Moon makes two personal visits. The Light is your Christ oil window, when the Moon passes through the sign the Sun was in at your birth (the Sun is the light). The Fire is your lunar return, when the Moon returns to its own birth position, your inner fire renewing. They fall on different days for everyone. Many people find that noticing both gives the month a rhythm: see in the Light, act in the Fire. It's a way of seeing it, not a rule; follow whatever your practice teaches.

In the sacred secretion (Christ oil) teaching, practitioners hold that once a month — while the Moon passes through the sign the Sun was in at your birth — a sacred "seed" or oil is produced, and that conserving your energy during those days supports spiritual growth. Common practices include fasting or eating lightly, avoiding alcohol, abstaining from sex, prayer or meditation, and rest. Mooncurrent doesn't tell you what to believe; it just gives you accurate dates.

Your Light only needs your sun sign, which your birthday gives. Your Fire is the exact point where the Moon stood when you were born, and the Moon moves about half a degree an hour, so the time matters. A time within an hour or two still gets you close. Your Light and Fire repeat on the same 27-day rhythm, so the gap between them is your own lifelong pattern.

Tropical divides the sky into 12 equal signs starting at the spring equinox — the zodiac most Western astrology and most monthly calendars use. Sidereal uses 12 equal signs fixed to the stars (Lahiri ayanamsa, the Vedic standard); it currently runs about 24° behind tropical, so your sign is often one earlier. Constellations follows the Moon through the actual star patterns as the IAU draws them — unequal in size, and including Ophiuchus. Teachers disagree, so Mooncurrent shows all three side by side.

Positions come from the open-source Astronomy Engine. We checked every sign change from November 2026 to December 2027 against the Swiss Ephemeris (the reference professional astrologers use): every tropical and sidereal time was within 10 seconds. Times are shown to the minute.
